Fully Positional Armillary, 3D Construction

I designed and assembled a fully positional Armillary, which is an astronomical tool for judging the distances of constellations above earth. I used type and color to parallel a story from "Einstein's Dreams" by Alan Lightman which is based on a theory of Einstein's that our perception of time slows as we move away from earth.

Final Product

The entire story is broken up into 4 sections, starting on the left then reading clockwise. Once you reach the center, the story continues in the opposite direction. I choose to build this structure to convey the main theme of a short story from Einstein's Dreams by Alan Lightman, where he proposes that time progresses more slowly the further you are from the earth. My arrangement of the type reinforces the idea that as time progresses, so does the story, creating a new interpretation of the story. It uses color and gradients to show change in altitude and time.
