When I draw by hand I need a very interesting subject, otherwise I'd rather stick to using the computer to illustrate. These drawings are the result of many hours of hard work, usually spanning one day. I took a small model I had built and took hundreds of pictures at different angles, printed them out, and proceeded to sketch them out at a much larger scale. All of these illustrations are at least 18" x 24", a couple even larger. Each one uses a different medium; pencil, charcoal, Micron pen, colored pencils, or markers.

This drawing measures 24" h by 18" w and uses pencil as the medium. I chose to add some visual interest by adding a glass orb that distorts the image and adds extra depth to the illustration.
The drawing is the largest of them all, at 24" h by 36" w. I choose to use colored pencils to really show the vibrance of the model and to exaggerate the contrasting elements.
This drawing was made using only lines of different thicknesses. Their proximity to one another determine the different surfaces and create depth. Measures 18" h x 24" w.
This drawing uses pencil as the medium and measures 18" h x 24" w. I wanted to show a closeup view of the model and used as much contrast as I could to simulate a truly three dimensional figure.
This drawing uses charcoal as the medium and measures 18" h x 24" w. This view is looking up at the model to show how dominating these models would be at full scale. The charcoal gives a rough texture to the model's surface.
This drawing uses colored pencil as the medium and measures 18" h x 24" w, though I've cropped this image to focus solely on the model. With this drawing I wanted to show as much of the model as possible, which meant the level of detail didn't have to be as high.
