Classic Video Games Theme
I enjoy playing video games from time to time, and nothing beats sitting down with a classic game. That was my inspiration for creating my own deck of playing cards. The idea was to create a playful retrospection of video games, while keeping with the traditional design aspects of a deck of cards.
2008
Final Cards
I choose several rememberable games and scenes to work as my face cards and used the controllers from many different systems as the number cards. Each suit was re-imagined to be represented in its digital form and the colors were chosen to reflect the classic video game palettes while differentiating the cards from one another.
Icon Concept Drawings
I started the process by sketching out each icon that I envisioned in the final deck. For the face cards I took the console logos from the major manufacturers and modified them using the King, Queen, Jack, and Ace.
Controller Vectors
I created vector replicas of each controller that I decided to use in the playing cards. Each one is colored to match the suit they are being used for.
