I created a cohesive identity system for the 2018 Winter Olympics to be possibly held in Queenstown, New Zealand. I choose the wave to represent adventure, excitement and wonderment that is found in Queenstown.
2009
I chose a wave to represent the adventurous nature of New Zealand and combined it with the stylization found in many pieces of art in the Maori culture. Through the revision process the symbol's lines were cleaned up, the type was refined and the color palette was finalized.
This was a slideshow that was presented at the end of the project. It walks through each stage of the final system; which includes the logo, an Olympic poster, a poster for the sport of Skeleton with a history of the sport on the reverse side, a way finding poster for the sport of Skeleton, a barricade design, pictograms for five sports: skeleton, ski jump, snowboarding, ice hockey, and ski tricks, and a website mockup. All adhering to the aforementioned theme and color palette.
